If you are unable to protest your assessment and/or values in person, please complete a MARCH BOARD OF REVIEW PETITION and return it by U.S. Mail to: Township Assessing, 1196 Ranger Dr., Gladwin, MI 48624,(no electronic emails or faxes, to the Assessor no later than the Friday prior to the March Board of Review Meetings. If sending a Personal Representative on your behalf, they must have a letter of authorization in order to protest on your behalf.

Due to high call volumes during the months of February and March, it is recommended to email questions if possible, and if you are unable to reach us via phone or email regarding your values during the months of February or March, especially immediately prior to the March Board of Review meetings, we recommend attending one of the March Board of Review scheduled meetings.

What We Do
The Township Assessor is responsible for maintaining township property records, setting property values, etc. These duties require us to visit properties located in the township, and we do that on a regular basis every year.

Related work experience includes 7 years with Emmet County Equalization and Deputy Assessor with the City of Traverse City until 2023 when he left the City and joined working with his wife, Jill Brown, who is also an assessor. Dave is the Assessor of Record for Grout Township in Gladwin County, Haring Township in Wexford County and Mayfield Township in Grand Traverse County.

Dave is currently serving as the President of the Northwest Michigan Assessor's Association.
Hobbies include hunting, fishing, boating, camping, woodworking and 4-wheeling.
Jill Brown, MAAO

Past work experience includes Information Technology Help Desk Specialist and Chief Deputy County Clerk for Emmet County, Software Implementation Specialist & Project Manager for Tyler Technologies.

Jill is the Assessor of Record for Benzonia Township and Crystal Lake Township in Benzie County and Greenwood Township in Wexford County. She also assists Dave Brown with Grout, Mayfield, and Haring Townships.
Hobbies include crafting, scrapbooking, painting, photography, fishing, boating, camping and 4-wheeling.
