For questions regarding your assessment, and before planning to file an appeal petition, please contact us at: townshipassessing@gmail.com or call us at 231-881-4000. Due to high call volumes during the months of February and March, it is recommended to email questions if possible.
If you do not receive an email response or returned call before the week of the March Board of Review meetings, we recommend attending one of the scheduled March Board of Review meetings in person.

If you are unable to protest your assessment and/or values in person, a MARCH BOARD OF REVIEW PETITION must be completed and returned/received by U.S. Mail no later than the Friday before the week of the March Board of Review meetings and to ensure its timely received for placement on the agenda, it must be sent directly to: Township Assessing, 1196 Ranger Dr., Gladwin, MI 48624, (no electronic emails or faxes are accepted). A Personal Representative may appear in person at the Board of Review meeting on your behalf, however, they must have a letter of authorization from the owner they are representing.

​​​Related work experience includes 7 years with Emmet County Equalization and Deputy Assessor with the City of Traverse City for 10 years, currently working as a contract assessor, Dave is the Assessor of Record for Grout Township in Gladwin County, Haring Township in Wexford County and Mayfield Township in Grand Traverse County. Dave is currently serving as the President of the Northwest Michigan Assessor's Association. Hobbies include spending time with our Grand
childen, hunting, fishing, boating, camping, woodworking, and 4-wheeling.

What We Do
The Township Assessor is responsible for maintaining and updating township property record information through deeds filed with County Register of Deeds, Property Transfer Affidavits, Principal Residence Exemption Affidavits, etc., analyzing annual sales for use in the Mass Appraisal process to establish estimated property values based on the current market sales, etc. Maintaining property records requires ongoing property site visits, including properties that have recently sold, have new construction or are part of an on-going rotational visitation process.

​​Past work experience includes Information Technology Help Desk Specialist, Chief Deputy County Clerk, Software Implementation Specialist & Project Manager for Tyler Technologies courts & justice solution case management software. Jill is the Assessor of Record for Benzonia Township, Crystal Lake Township in Benzie County and Greenwood Township in Wexford County. She also assists Dave Brown with Grout, Mayfield, and Haring Townships. Hobbies include: spending time with our Grand children, crafting, scrapbooking, painting, photography, fishing, boating, camping, and 4-wheeling.
